Auto-Close Stocks in your Watchlist

July 11th, 2006

A few days ago I received an instant message (GTalk) from MaoXian with a feature suggestion. For some reason, he was unable to log into StockTickr for several weeks. He’s based in China and we had done some testing and his connection to our DNS server was being blocked for some reason. Long story short, he’s back in business and using StockTickr again.

During his absence, some of the stocks in his watchlist dropped like rocks, so his performance looked, shall we say, sub-par.

His suggestion was for StockTickr Pro users to be able to auto-close stocks based on the stop price that is entered in the trading journal. I thought it was a good suggestion so I went ahead and implemented it.

You’ll now find another option in your profile to enable this feature. Look for the option called “Auto-Close Stocks Using Journal Stops” and set it to yes. This will close stocks in your StockTickr watchlist if the stock closes below (or above as the case may be) your stop price.

We realize that there’s enough to think about in this market without worrying about closing out a stock in your watchlist.

Dave: Thanks for quickly implementing my suggestion … now if I could only start again with a clean slate. ;-)
