Scaling Support Added to StockTickr
February 5th, 2007I’d never had scaling as part of my trading plan until I switched to CyberTrader a while back. The commission structure that I had just didn’t really allow for it. Also up until about a month ago, StockTickr had no support for scaling, so I didn’t have an easy way to keep track of it.
Do most traders scale into and out of positions? When I started StockTickr, my guess would have been no. I quickly learned that a lot of traders do scale into and out of positions. This was one of the most common feature requests toward the end of 2006. We implemented it quickly and now the StockTickr Trading Journal handles scaling with ease - keeping track of R multiples and expectancy perfectly whether you scale or not. My feeling now is that well over half of traders use scaling as part of their trading plan.
Since I’m now using Cybertrader’s per share pricing plan, scaling makes a lot more sense. I’ve started incorporating it into my trading. The jury is still out on whether it is going to help my bottom line, but so far I’d say it has.
