February (and January) Trading Results
February 28th, 2007February ended up being a good, but not great month. I met my goal of 10R and I’m feeling more confident and am ready to increase my trading size ever so slightly. Here’s a link to every trade I made in February. You’ll notice that I made the fewest trades since last August and had my best month so far in terms of dollars made and expectancy. I attribute this to … luck.
I learned some valuable lessons in January, thanks in part to Estocastica who eyeballed my trades and made a suggestion or two.
| Month | Total R | Win % | Expectancy | Trades |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| February 2007 | 9.97 | 46.15 | 0.77 | 13 |
| January 2007 | 0.80 | 39.29 | 0.03 | 28 |
| December 2006 | 6.70 | 50.00 | 0.30 | 22 |
| November 2006 | 12.38 | 48.28 | 0.43 | 29 |
| October 2006 | -2.61 | 33.33 | -0.09 | 30 |
| September 2006 | 5.35 | 42.86 | 0.19 | 28 |
| August 2006 | 9.07 | 43.33 | 0.30 | 30 |
I’ll devote an entire post to what I learned in January. If you look at my worst trades from the month of January, you’ll see what the problem was.

I really enjoy your openness. I’ve been a successful investor and will continue investing. But, I’m retired and need a hobby and trading is it. Unfortunatly, I stink at it. However, I’m learning (thanks to blogs and several books you and others have recommened). Once I’m a little more secure in my efforts I might open my journal to others to see. Keep up the good work and keep posting your results — it helps us who are new to this game.

Congrats on hitting your goals, especially with such a strong expectancy. I’m sure it wasn’t all luck. Prove me right in March.

Gav and Ugly - thanks much - you guys have taught me a lot!
@Tyro: Thanks very much - we’ll see how much luck was involved.
