A Tree Fell Down Preventing Me From Trading

June 4th, 2007

Blame it on the tree falling down the road.  Just seconds before I entered a trade in FMCN today, the power went dead and I was left with a very, very quiet office and 4 blank monitors staring at me.  I guess it’s that time of year.

The power actually came back on pretty quickly, but my Internet connection stayed down for another hour or so - just long enough for me to become completely out of sync with today’s market.  When I came back online, it certainly looked like I picked a good day to skip trading - a gap down and the uptrend day.

There was surprisingly little on my gap scans today.  I quickly whittled my list down to two longs (LEND, DIGE) and two shorts (REGN, UAUA).  I almost traded REGN, but decided against it after it took so long to trigger.  The 11:00AM 15 minute bar in UAUA would have worked out, but I was busy twiddling my thumbs waiting for the cable modem to come back online.
