CyberTrader/StreetSmart Pro Transition Questions?
November 15th, 2007I’ve just arrived at the Traders’ Expo in Las Vegas and the first session I’m attending is the CyberTrader/Schwab session about the transition.
Like many CyberTrader users, I’m somewhat concerned about the impending transition to Street Smart Pro and am eager to see some details of the new platform.
This session at the expo is the first opportunity that I’m aware of to really get a glimpse of the new platform and see its capabilities.
If you have a specific question you’d like me to pass on, let me know. Here are the things I’m eager to learn more details about:
- Short inventory - I’ve heard conflicting reports on whether this will improve or not after the transition
- New features in Alert Templates - I use these extensively and have long been clamoring for some enhancements to this already very good feature.
- Shorting through ECNs - this will not be available right way I believe, but at some later date it is supposed to be.
If you have anything to add, please let me know. I’m sure they’ll be around through Sunday, so if you think of something before then, let me know.

The transition was/is a MAJOR disaster. Missing columns, ajents who don’t know whats happening, backup on phone lines because of all of the problems, etc. etc.
Is anyone else out there in trouble? If so please email me. I am looking for a new broker. CyberTrader was perfect. Why did they have to ruin a good thing?

A frustrating transition that was promised to be seamless. No more “realtime P&L” and no more “open positions” in the balances toolbar. Schwab tells me to open the account-detail window to see real-time P&L. Just what a trader needs to do, open another window. What a joke. Cybertrader Pro WAS a perfect product, and now I am just a simply frustrated trader that is not impressed whatsoever.

I just started use the software a week ago.. I was frustrated with so many things.. Schwab’s called support sucked. Software doesn’t tell you what your real buy and short power. Be very careful with your buy and short power, the software will allow you to go beyond 4x your buying power if you go full force, but it will need you to send in extra cash to settle your account the next day for cash you used beyond 4x.. if you don’t you won’t be able to trade until the transactions settle three business days later.. how suck is that.. Cybertrader pro won’t let you go beyond what your real time buying power, which is good…but why the F they don’t implement the feature in streetsmart pro is beyond me.. I also notice that execution time using schwab’s own venue is much slower.. I am seriously searching for a different platform now..

its unbelievable the b-shit they pulled. they r now a web based broker just like e-trade. they didint tell us that until after the transition was made so everyone wouldnt bail. they r not direct access anymore. they take your order and get payment for order flow. they hold your order and decide who they want to execute it for them. its kinda like front running and sometimes ive seen it done with my orders which is illegal. i have been with cybercorp since 98 and helped them get to where they r with my own hard earned money and time. then schmuch bought them and killed it for the little guy. just goes to show u their committment to making sure they make more money than u. its not fair. just goes to show u the one with the most money wins. do not try to scalp. they do not give u p&l info or execution price points. they r slow with letting u know if u r in or not. they cant be competitve agianst good traders with equal tools so they just take them away from us. its like taking a step back to 1996 after all the accomplishments were made to get us on a more level playing field. usually when someone pisses me off this bad i am better off without them because i will find a way to be better than they r legally. close your acct and go to bright trading or echo trade. do not give schwab one more red cent on a commission. they do not give a shit about u!!!! or how much money u will surely loose if u stay with them!! i dont think phillip berber would be happy with what scmuch did to all his technology trading software. but it was in the deal. 7 years after schwab buys it they screw all the traders. i guess we r all only worth 250 mil. well now if we all leave and go somewhere else to trade maybee we can make him pay more than 250 mil long term. schmuucc is a joke

I was on the phone with tech support,(a common event lately) and the rep told me they have a major software upgrade scheduled for sometime in February.
I will wait for the upgrade and if its not enough to make some serious corrections, I will relocate.

they only way it will ever be the same if they go back to cybertrader platform and go back to direct access. ive been thru this shit to many times and they just spend your money trying to fix something that was never broken. this time is different. at least before it was still direct access. they r still going to look at every order u send including orders to cover your positions. let me know when the shit hits the fan soon and u blow up your acct because some dumb broker at schwum was reviewing your order. obviously u r either young or new to the game. thats the people they love. their was a revolution that took place to level the playing fields and this is how thay stop it. ofcourse they r going to tell u everything is going to be fine. but they r not even going to send u a jar of vaseline. ouch! wake up and close ur acct. just for the principle of the matter. if u dont care about direct access and go to ameritrade.

I did it again last weekend, over extended my margin. Now they wanted me to send in the extra cash to settle the again even though I don’t hold any thing and all the stocks are settled. OOOOh, they told me, I won’t have any day trading power until 100 days from the day I generated the notice if I don’t send in the cash (not what I post before, even more retricted).. Wow, I never have any problem with other firm, even Ameritrade won’t ask me to send in cash and will give me margin power even if I over extended my margin. WAY TO GO SCHWAB!!!! So now a day, I just use their charts and buy and sell using my other account !! Too bad Schwab, I guess you don’t want my money!! still, I haven’t found any platform that will allow you to use tab on the same chart for different time frames. Anybody out there come across a platform will do that, please leave a message here. Good luck to all.
