Projected Volume in QuoteTracker

March 11th, 2008

I’ve recently started using QuoteTracker as my charting platform to see how I’d like it. So far I think it’s fantastic – every bit as good as eSignal (for most things). Here’s a great feature that’s in QuoteTracker that, after using it for a couple days, makes me think it should be in every charting platform.

Before a candle completes, QuoteTracker displays the “projected volume” of the candle. So at the current rate of volume during the current candle it projects how large the volume bar will be when the candle completes. What a great, intuitive feature – I love it.

I’m still clinging to a couple different charting platforms, which I’ll discuss in a future post. For now, though, QuoteTracker is working well. Hat tip to Eyal for turning me on to this.

I really like QuoteTracker too. I got worried when Jerry sold to TD but so far, they have maintained the independence of the tool which is its best feature. I like knowing that I can change brokers and data providers without having to re-learn anything. The next day, I can place orders with the same clicks and the same tool.
Another feature I like of QuoteTracker paintbars. You easily make your own indicator combining severals sources using PaintBars and it makes looking at charts that much faster.

That’s a good point, @grandcanuck. Yes, paintbars are a neat feature. They’re nowhere near the functionality that eSignal provides with EFS, but for the vast majority of things, paintbars are quite nice.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jerry a couple of times recently – nice guy for sure.
